Etna Rosso “Contrada Pietrarizzo” is a pure Nerello Mascalese, produced in the Tornatore estate’s cru of the same name, historically known among the absolute best for the sublime quality of its grapes. Aging in large barrels preserves the elegant varietal heritage of Etna’s noble grape variety, leaving unaltered its characteristics founded on the delicacy of small berries, accompanied by fine tannins and pleasant freshness. A red that impresses with its refinement and personality, marked by the typical mineral notes of volcanic sand soils.

Vinification

Grapes harvested by hand in small crates arrive quickly at the winery where they undergo manual selection on a belt. Destemmed and not totally crushed, they are sent to truncated-conical wooden vats, where they macerate for about 10 to 12 days at a temperature of 22/25°C. Daily, for several times a day, manual punching-downs are performed to the macerating grapes using a pneumatic punching-down machine. Once fermentation is finished, the grapes are left to macerate for a few more days after which they are racked and pressed with a vertical press of the traditional type. The resulting wine rests, in 25 hl barrels, for more than a year before being bottled.
