The Company Today

Who we are

Located on the fertile northern slopes of Mount Etna, the Tornatore winery boasts 100 hectares of lush land, with the largest expanse of vineyards in the Etna Doc area, olive groves and hazelnut orchards. Representing Sicilian excellence and tradition, our winery cultivates native varieties in historic districts, combining traditional methods and modern technology to produce superior wines. Our passion for wine is reflected in every bottle, celebrating the uniqueness of Etna’s terroir.

Our roots

Since 1865

Founded in 1865 by Francesco Tornatore’s great-grandfather, the winery has carried on a winemaking tradition rooted in the fertile lands of Etna for more than 150 years. In 1910 grandfather Giuseppe consolidated the family business by building a palmento in contrada Piano Fiera, marking the beginning of an expansion that would encompass other valuable land on Etna’s northern slope. Our deep knowledge of the land, enriched by decades of experience and passed from generation to generation, allows us today to look to the future with the certainty of those who have always known how to respect the land and its traditions, continuing our commitment to excellence and innovation in the world of wine.

AT THE FOOT OF THE VOLCANO

Territory

Making wine under the Volcano is not easy, yet for those who succeed, it is the most rewarding thing there is. The Tornatore winery stands on the fertile northern slope of Mount Etna, whose lands, caressed by significant temperature ranges due to the proximity of the Nebrodi Mountains, are home to vines that sink into a unique terroir, shaped by the activity of Europe’s highest volcano. The magical combination of terroir, climate and production wisdom makes Etna’s northern slope an ideal area for the production of unique wines of exceptional complexity and sensory richness.

OUR VALUES

Sustainability

For us, sustainability is not a “trendy” sticker to flaunt, but a commitment. More: a natural choice of love. We love our land and do everything, from using respectful agronomic practices to using only renewable energy in the winery, to deliver it intact to future generations.

The VIVA (Assessment of the Impact of Viticulture on the Environment) and SOStain (Save Our Soil) certifications gratify our efforts, attesting to our environmental sustainability, activities in terms of biodiversity, land preservation and enhancement, and socioeconomic impact.
